Who are we?
Friends of Freethorpe is the PTA for Freethorpe Primary and Nursery school and is run by parents and staff. Our main aim is to raise funds to purchase items that ultimately benefit the children within the school environment, and out main objective is “fun for everyone” while we achieve this.
What we do?
We hold regular meetings to discuss and plan ways to raise funds. Each year we hold Easter and Christmas Fayres, a Summer BBQ and regular school discos. However we are always open to new ideas and try to implement some each year. Previous years we have introduced new events such as the pocket money gift shops, a table top and garage sale, and tea and tissues at the beginning of the new school year for reception parents. We also attend parents evenings to supply refreshments and child supervision. If you have any ideas that you would like ‘friend’s’ to consider please get in touch. In previous years we have successfully raised funds for:

× 30 mini IPADS
× A server to the IPADS
× A charging unit and trolly for the IPADS
× Musical instruments
× Wood for raised beds in the garden
× Playground sports equipment
× Football kit
× Mugs
× A stage
We also raised some funds for some new nursery equipment which included, squiggle bikes, balance bikes, and a water tray. All children from the nursery to year 6 can benefit from funds we raise. Through out the year teachers will approach us with items they would like help to purchase and we get funding going as soon as we can. This year we are starting to help with school improvements and are looking to start raising funds to purchase

What kind of help do we need?
Our aim is to work together across the school as parents and staff to try and enrich the school environment for our children and for the future. We would love you to get involved in our school, and hope that new volunteers can bring diversity and different perspectives to our group.
There are different ways to be involved, attending one of our events is enough but if you have extra time, why not consider: joining the committee, running a stall, sourcing raffle donations, asking your work to join the ‘matched giving’ scheme, helping in school as a 1:1 reader, helping with the grounds and gardens, helping an after school club, designing games boards for the fayre’s and draws.
